ABOUT US

Our Mission

Our hope is that each dancer will have the best training possible while still having free time to enjoy their childhood. Super Steppers are given many opportunities to perform in front of small and large audiences to achieve a sense of accomplishment and self confidence. We hope that their confidence will help them to become great citizens who love their country and will contribute in a great way to society. Super Steppers showcase the beauty and joy of expression through dancing. They experience uplifting classes and experiences and create great friendships.

  • St. George Magazine honored the Super Steppers with a special article about the group.
  • The Super Steppers were featured on national television on a Sports Illustrated special for the performances at NBA halftime shows.
  • Super Steppers have been featured on national television in Japan, Thailand and the USA.

The Super Steppers and Ilene Hacker were instrumental in forming the Sister City program between Hashima, Gifu, Japan and the City of St. George, Utah. A friendship that still exists today between the two cities due to the tireless efforts of Mr. Takemasa Obata of Hashima, Japan, an advisor to the Governor of Gifu, Japan.

OFFICIAL UTAH AMBASSADORS:
The Governor and Utah State Legislature signed a special Resolution honoring the Super Steppers as Official Goodwill Ambassadors for the State of Utah in 1989. The Resolution states, in part,….’We honor the group for their impressive representation of the State of Utah during their tours and travels throughout the world. Whereas the group enjoys widespread praise for their performing ability and excellence in distinguished representation of the state of Utah worldwide. The group’s success is attributed to the enthusiastic leadership of its founder and director, Ilene Hacker, with the support of the performers themselves and their parents’ tireless efforts in the group’s behalf. The Resolution was presented in the Utah State House of Representatives General Session and signed by Governor Norman Bangerter.

WORLDWIDE & NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCES:

  • Japan: The Super Steppers were invited to Gifu, Japan in l987 to kick off the huge Future Watch ’88 Expo. The dancers were invited back 10 months later to perform at the expo, 85 dancers and a total of 165 people from the St. George, Utah area enjoyed the tour.
  • The Super Steppers and Prime Time Performers have presented 5 performing tours throughout Japan, including Gifu, Hashima, Ogaki, Kakagimahara, Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo.
  • China: Super Steppers and Prime Time Performers performed at the Great Wall of China, Beijing and an infants/children’s special needs Orphanage near Beijing, March 2006.
  • Hong Kong 2006
  • Thailand – Performance at Thailand’s largest University and in the resort city of Pattaya
  • South Korea - Seoul

  • Australia – Sydney Opera House, sponsored by Reader’s Digest
